Chris Hamilton is a classically trained pianist from Cardiff, Wales. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London and then read Law at Oxford University. Whilst working as a City lawyer he decided to perform full time so studied a musical theatre course at Guildford School of Acting. Since then he has performed in cabaret all over the world from Tel Aviv to Melbourne. In London he has performed solo shows at Jermyn Street Theatre, the Theatre Museum, Lauderdale House, the Bush Hall, The Actor's Church and The Pheasantry. He has won praise from all the major newspapers, the Telegraph describing him as an 'ace pianist'. Chris has also performed at venues such as The Savoy, the Royal Festival Hall, The Hippodrome, St David's Hall, Cardiff and the House of Commons. In 2007 Chris performed his one man show in New York, his six performances garnering rave reviews. Critics described him as 'the real deal' and 'a total showman'. He also performs as headliner on all the luxury cruise liners winning the Silversea Entertainer of the Year in 2017.
Chris is a keen writer. In 2009 his first musical, Over The Threshold, for which he wrote the music, lyrics and book, was produced in Edinburgh where it was critically acclaimed. It won the MTM: UK Award for Best New Music before transferring to London and was then produced in Vienna in 2010 with a concert version also being produced in New York. ('Hamilton is clearly a very gifted composer' The British Theatre Guide). In 2014, Chris was commissioned to write a piece for the English National Ballet which was performed at the Barbican and then at the Latitude Festival. In August 2017 he appeared in a show called “A Spoonful of Sherman”. He received rave reviews including the following: “Star of the show is Chris Hamilton with his sparkling, pitch perfect accompaniment and occasional show stealers”.
